2: Week 10 – 18 June 2020

Tēnā koutou e aku rangatira,

If you’ve been following Allandale School’s Facebook page, since returning from lockdown you will know that our staff and students have been busy! Between middle team developing their Maker Space in the Te Kaitiaki o Motueka from the learning through play exploring in the junior school. Our bilingual and senior teams have documented how the Lock Down experience affected them. You can get a look at some of these pieces of work in our foyer.

Our grounds are looking fabulous and as tie moves on from our covid 19 responds we are getting more and more families coming to share our spaces during the weekends. It is great to see that soccer has started and that our other winter sports are also beginning.

Allandale School is in the process of getting a number of property projects up and running.

● We are renovating the unusable toilets between room 9 and 10 into an office space that joins these two classrooms together. This will also mean that room 9 and 10 get a face lift too.

● We are looking forward to the completion of our entrance and office areas.

● We will be retiring our boiler and installing heat pumps in our learning spaces.

● We are looking into rebuilding our toilets.

● We are looking into carpeting some of our classrooms.

● We are also looking into building a deck outside of our senior classrooms and having bifold doors.

As you can imagine we are all very excited about the property improvements we will be making.

Sports Report:

Football Last Saturday the Allandale Strikers had a glorious win against Kawerau Red Devils. The player of the day was Felix Edwards who did an amazing job of staying in his position, shooting goals and was awesome at goal keeping. The Allandale Ninjas won 3-1 with Alaska Roper being awarded Player of the Day for her amazing job at defending and being a team player, helping Alexis get 2 goals. The Allandale Tornados had a really tough game playing a very experienced Whakatane Town team last Saturday. They played with positivity and persistence right to the end of the game. The player of the day was Cody Spanake who ran like a train speeding through the opposition. Allandale’s 7th grade kicked off the beginning of their season this week with great enthusiasm.
