Term 3: Week 2 – 30 July 2020

Kia Ora Whānau,

We have had a wonderful response from our whānau and staff for our parent interviews. This is a special time where we all get the share in the success of our students and school.

At Allandale School we are all learners, many of our staff have participated in professional learning development from learning about phonics programmes, early words, implementing the key competencies and developing rich learning through play environments. The staff have also spent alot of time reading rich research around quality programmes, Teacher of Writing, Clarity in the classroom, Learning in the Fast Lane and Teacher, the major players in the education process and Mechanically Inclined.

Our students are also focused on learning. 40 children have had the pleasure of learning alongside Mrs Doherty, Mrs Stewart and Ms Black, who are running accelerated learning programmes. These children are responding and loving learning alongside their teacher and new teachers.

Senior children are enjoying using the Dragon Maths, these rich independent activities relate closely to what is being taught and therefore allows the students to practice their new skills. We still have a few at school that can be purchased please contact the office or your child’s teacher asap so you don’t miss out.

Sports Report:

Hockey Hockey began last weekend. The middle school team is made up of a number of players who have never played before. Luca Goodman is doing a fantastic job of coaching them and on Saturday they played a great game on the hockey turf at Eivers Road. The player of the day was Hezekya who fiercely defended our Allandale goal. The senior team played an awesome game on Saturday where their defending skills were put to the test.

I am loving the fact that tamariki at Allandale are so resilient in sports and are excited to give new things a go at any age. Well done to you all, I am very proud! Ms G 🙂

With the current wet weather, which leads to muddy fields, it’s always a good idea to have a spare set of clothes in your children’s school bags. We currently don’t have very much spare uniform to lend children when needed. If any whanau did have spare Allandale uniform to donate, that would be greatly appreciated.
