13 June 2019 – Term2 – Week 7
Tēnā koutou e aku rangatira,
With only just over 3 weeks left, the second Term rolls on and the cold is settling in. As various winter illnesses start to present themselves, staying warm and getting a good night’s sleep becomes very important at this time of year.
The past week has seen Allandale School represented brilliantly in a number of events and competitions. From Cross-Country at a variety of levels (school-wide, Whakatāne regional, and Eastern Bay competitions) to Rippa Rugby, Allandale students have made themselves, their school, and their community proud! A big “thank you” to all of the staff and parents who have volunteered their time to give our children the opportunity to participate in so many exciting events.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
On behalf of the students, staff and whānau of Allandale School, we would like to thank the current Board of Trustees for their hard work and dedication to our school.
Andy Galbraith (Chairperson), Matt Turner, Rebecca MacKay, Kriscina Kerr, Emily Rampling, and Wendy Adamson (Staff Representative).
This has been a very collaborative Board who have worked well together; achieving many important goals in their time – some highlights being our very successful Education Review assessment in 2017, and overseeing the implementation of Te Puna Taiao – The Community Oasis Project. Once again, we would like to thank them for all their time and commitment to our children and school – a huge volunteer effort.
UPDATING CONTACT INFORMATION
It is vital that the school is able to contact the parents, caregivers and whānau of each of our students in the event of an emergency. We ask that all Allandale families please get in touch with the school office on (07) 308-7645 or at email@example.com to update contact information for your child(ren). Thank you!
WHAKATĀNE COMMUNITY OF LEARNING – INFORMATION SHARING
Recent changes in the education sector have led to the establishment of Communities of Learning, where schools, early childhood and other educational institutes work together to improve educational outcomes for children within a community of learners.
The Whakatane Community of Learners or Kahui Ako’ consists of the following schools; Allandale, Apanui, James Street, Nukuhou North, Ohope Beach, Paroa , St Joseph’s Whakatane, Trident, Whakatane High and Whakatane Intermediate; and also involves numerous early childhood centres.
The Whakatane Kahui Ako works with all member schools and organisations to ‘Enrich partnerships, grow capability and strengthen engagement for equitable outcomes and success for our community’.
order that the Kahui Ako works from an evidence base, schools and organisations
are sharing information, this includes attendance, student achievement and
learning needs information. Information shared is non-identifiable data
and is used help determine patterns and trends across the community of learning
in order to inform needs, supports, funding and possible professional
development for schools.
