15 November 2018  –  Term 4  –  Week 5

 Tēnā koutou e aku Rangatira,

As the weather continues to warm up, we pass the mid-point of our final Term of 2018. As always, the students and staff of Allandale School continue to work hard to ensure that these last four weeks of the year are engaging and productive. Before we know it, Prizegiving and the end of the school year will be upon us!

Kia tau te rangimarie, Drew Manning Principal .

Here are some important dates for our students and their families transitioning to Whakatāne Intermediate School in 2019: Tuesday, 27 November: Year 6 Parents Evening at WIS (7:00pm) Wednesday, 28 November: Year 6 students visit for Orientation Day (9:30am).

2018 PRIZEGIVING Allandale School’s 2018

Prizegiving celebrations will be held in the auditorium of Trident High School on Monday, 3 December at 10:00am. All parents, caregivers and whānau are invited to come along to help us celebrate the achievements of our wonderful students!

In 2016, Allandale School joined hundreds of primary, intermediate and secondary schools across New Zealand in the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) programme. Positive Behaviour for Learning initiatives help parents, whānau, teachers and schools address problem behaviour, improve children’s well-being, and increase educational achievement. While the majority of the work we have done around PB4L has focused on creating a positive social and learning culture in Allandale School, part of the kaupapa involves policies and procedures to deal with more severe behaviours. According to the Ministry of Education’s National Administrative Guidelines for Boards of Trustees, all schools are required to “provide a safe physical and emotional environment for students” and “comply in full with any legislation…to ensure the safety of students and employees”. It is because of these guidelines that we are required to contact parents, caregivers or whānau when students display unsafe behaviours, and may require the creation of a behaviour plan, support from external agencies, stand down, or suspension in order to ensure that they are not repeated. Once again, these last two are used only in serious cases, and are initiated in order to provide the school with time to put supports in place which ensure the safety of all students of the school. If you have any questions or concerns about Positive Behaviour for Learning, please feel free to contact US.

Closes tomorrow, Friday 16th November.

No LATE orders accepted, sorry.

Orders with money are to be handed in to the office.  Thank you.
