5 December 2019 – Term 4 – Week 8
Tēnā koutou e aku Rangatira,
With just two weeks remaining in the fourth Term, Allandale School continues to be a very busy place! Next Friday we will be sending home End-of-Year Learning Journey reports. Please make sure that you take the time to talk with your tamariki about their learning and speak with their teacher if you have any questions or concerns.
Kia tau te rangimarie,
We are very excited to announce some major changes to the structure and organisation of our School Prizegiving and Year 6 Graduation. Over the past few years, we have struggled with the timing of Prizegiving and the need for our younger students sit for such long periods of time. Furthermore, we really want to acknowledge and celebrate the hard work, time and effort our Year 6 students have put into their primary schooling.
So, this year, we will hold one formal evening event on Monday, 16 December to celebrate and award our major prizes and trophies, our Year 6 graduation certificates and announce and award our 18 School Leaders for 2020. This particular event is focused on our Year 5 and 6 students. Over and above this event – in a more child-friendly manner – each team will hold their own assemblies during school time to award special certificates to their selected students acknowledging their individual strengths. These special ceremonies will be held over the next few days, so parents of tamariki in Years 1 to 4 are asked to please watch for notices from your child’s teacher and/or team leader for more details on these events.
The end of the year is always a time of change in schools. This year, we need to farewell two of our staff and thank them for everything they have done for our school over the course of 2019.
We wish all the best to Yunzhe (Iris) Wang. Whāea Iris been visiting Aotearoa from China, and has been kind and generous enough to share her skills, experience and culture with the students of Allandale School.
We also regret to announce that we will soon be saying an emotional farewell to Andrea Whiteman, who will be moving with her family to Whanganui. Over her years with the school, Mrs. Whiteman has helped to establish the foundation for many young people. On behalf of our students, staff and whānau, I would like to thank her for her hard work and dedication to the tamariki of Allandale School, and to wish her the very best as she embarks on the next chapter in her life.
All parents and whānau are welcome to come out and help us celebrate Mrs. Whiteman’s contributions to Allandale School at a special farewell assembly being held in Te Kaitiaki o Motueka (the school Hall) on Wednesday 11 December at 12:00pm.
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL 2019
The last day of school for 2019 will be Wednesday 18 December . Please note that school ends at 12:00pm on the last day. There will be a final assembly in Te Kaitiaki o Motueka beginning at 11:30pm.
