We would also  like to wish Mr Drew Manning a great year studying and completing his Masters Degree.

We have had a strong start to the year, as all our staff and students are building strong relationships. We are really looking forward to another positive year for all of our children, as well as the staff and Allandale community!

This year the school has opted into the Government School Donation Scheme. The amount of money received unfortunately does not cover the full cost of all school wide activities, camps and EOTC events. The school is therefore allowed to ask for a contribution to each of these things so we can maintain the integrity of these items and ensure positive, meaningful and enjoyable experiences for the student remain a part of our learning programs. We believe it is reasonable to ask for contribution and hope the community can support the school in ensuring it is paid.

The school will contribute financially to the following:

  • Covering all school donation fees (no school fees for families)
  • Enhancing classroom learning programs with increased funds for resourcing (particularly for learning through play across the school)
  • Camps and EOTC events – the school will make contributions to camps and EOTC events with the amount depending on the event’s total costs.

We have opted into the Government School Donation Scheme with the intention of keeping costs  for the community as low as possible, while at the same time providing high quality learning experiences that each student deserves. We hope that our community continues to support the school in providing such opportunities for our students.

Allandale School values the opportunity to work closely with our whanau. Please let the school know  if you have any questions or concerns. We are committed to ensuring that all of our students, staff, and whānau are safe and happy in our school environment, so please keep the lines of communication open. You are encouraged to make contact with Teachers, Team Leaders, Deputy Principals, or the Principal so that we can continue to  work together.

Thank you to all the parents / caregivers who visited their children’s classroom teachers last week. We had a great turn out with over 186 visits. It was great to have such positive feedback from the teachers, whānau and students. If you were unable to make it simply contact your children’s teachers and they will make a suitable time for you to catch up with them.

Allandale School has a very strong BOT for another year. Mr Andy Galbrath has resigned as our chairperson and we would like to thank him  for many years of service for our school.  Our new chairperson is Erin Green and we are excited about our BOT leadership continuing to support the school.

Our Parent Trustees are:  Erin Green,  Andy Galbraith,  Rebecca Mackay,  Emily Rampling,  Kahukura Epiha, Greg Harvey,  Ange Tuari-Hape.

The Staff Rep on the Board is Wendy Adamson

While repairs to rectify leaks were underway during the summer break, more damage was uncovered.  As such we are currently waiting on quotes and Ministry approval to go ahead with the additional repairs. We are sorry for any inconvenience the closure of this entrance is causing to parents, caregivers, visitors and delivery people.

We are currently upgrading our Fire Alarm and Security System. This should reduce the number of false alarms we have experienced in the past and give our neighbours more restful evenings. We appreciate their patience in the lead up to this upgrade.

Our summer is continuing to be hot and we need to make sure all our students are well hydrated and have protected from the sun. Allandale School uniform includes a  navy blue hat with either an Allandale logo or no logo at all to the school’s uniform throughout Terms 1 and 4. Please ensure that your child is equipped with an appropriate hat and drink bottle every day so that they don’t miss out on all of our fun outdoor activities!

We are looking for volunteers for our morning road patrols. We believe that it is important that our teachers are in their classrooms in the mornings however we need your support in patrolling our crossings. If you are free in the mornings from 8.00am to 8.40am please contact the office and Teresa Hoefsloot will be in contact with you.

With our new beautiful shade sails in place, Allandale School’s pool is open for Term 1!  The ability to swim is vital for all New Zealanders, and may someday save your child’s life.  Please ensure that your children have their togs and towel at school and are ready to swim every day so that they don’t miss out on this important life skill. Talk to your child’s teacher if you would like to watch them.

There are heaps of sporting opportunities for our children in our district.  We would love to be involved in everything that’s going but will need parent support. If you are able to prepare some children for a particular sport we’d love to hear from you so we can give our children every opportunity going.  Please contact the school office if you are able to assist!
