Meet our new kaiako
Introducing Whaea Alana
Kia ora koutou. I'm Alana Pugh - I was born and bred in Tokoroa and left when I was 21. The next 16 years were spent in the Waikato before moving here to Whakatane 3 years ago with my husband and 3 children to be closer to whānau.
I have been teaching since 2012 and love empowering our tamariki to be Independent and capable learners in ways that are fun and meaningful for them. I truly believe that tamariki learn best when the adults in their life work in partnership, therefore consider my relationships with both tamariki and whānau to be equally important.
I am so excited and feel very privileged to be joining the Allandale School whānau. This year I look forward to forming trusting relationships with our tamariki and providing and participating in exciting learning experiences through our Learning through play programme
Introducing Whaea Tumihi
Kia ora koutou. I'm Tumihi McKinney and I have recently moved from Opotiki to live in Whakatāne - I'm enjoying living here and getting to know people from here. My husband Bruce and I have 3 children and 3 grandchildren.
I love being a teacher and seeing children learn knowledge and skills to become lifelong learners and become productive members of the community.
I look forward to teaching in the bilingual whare, and getting to know and teach the tamariki and also to get to know their whanau as well.
Introducing Angela Klein Ovink
Kia ora koutou katoa.
I have lived in Tauranga my whole life, but this year my husband and I have moved to the lovely Whakatāne.
I am a very social person who enjoys many different things including being in nature, gardening, and making and listening to music.
Something I love about teaching is building strong relationships within the classroom and school whānau, as well as seeing children have light bulb moments in their learning and growth.
I am looking forward to being part of the Allandale whānau this year and all of the exciting learning that will take place in Room 10.
