School Newsletter: Week 10, Term 1 2021
Tēnā koutou ngā whānau o Te Kura o Motueka/Allandale School.
What a busy term 1 we have had!
Property enhancements:
A dry, tidy entrance way and newly carpeted entrance and office spaces. Beautiful new learning space between rooms 9 and 10, and an amazing deck outside the room 1 to 6. Great shade over the deck making this area a really versatile teaching and learning space. New carpets and wet flooring in all our junior classes. New refurbished sinks in our junior block.
Teaching enhancements:
We have been working alongside our Literacy advisor to support our continued development in teaching writing through formative assessment practices. This means ensuring that our children know what they are learning, we co-construct what success looks like and all children are provided with clear scaffolds for them to achieve success.
Our staff are reviewing our literacy programmes and reflecting on our new knowledge around informative assessment practices.
Learning enhancements:
Whaea Ashton has been documenting and pulling together The Allandale School Curriculum document. This document demonstrates the unique place where we live and the unique nature of being a part of Ngati Awa. While we have started to develop our understanding and development this term through our unit Putauaki, we are excited about our next journey. Next term we'll be sharing it with whānau to get feedback.
Communication enhancements:
This term has seen an increased use of our Facebook. Our Facebook is a tool for our school to share the day to day running of our school, celebrate student’s learning, and to inform whānau what is happening. Kayley Foster, Kleesha Camburn, and Rebecca McKay are our Facebook leaders.
The term has also seen the introduction of our new website. Many thanks to Claire House who drove this project forward and to Kleesha Camburn and Maia Connor who are our website champions, providing our whānau and school communities with clear communication continues to be an area of focus.
This term has been a fabulous term, one that we have grown from and one that provides us focus for term 2.
Please have a great holiday break, rest, relax and be safe enjoying your whānau and friends.
Thank you Adrianne McAllister
