Our staff welcomes back all our students and whānau for another exciting term of teaching and learning. This term we continue with our yearly central theme of Identity.
Last term we celebrated our Pūrakau Putauaki and this term we are celebrating Ko Mataatua Whare as part of our new Localised Curriculum.
Possible lines of exploration: Identity, race relations, tourism, hospitality, mana, construction, architecture, manaakitanga, travel, relationships, conflict resolution, sovereignty, mahi whakairo, marae experience, whakapapa, tupuna, celebrations - Matāriki
PROPERTY
During the holiday break we have had underfloor installation installed under all our classes by Energy Smart and their team. Our classroom spaces will be toasty and warm with this new installation and heat pumps.
Pat Tickelpenny
Allandale Staff would like to welcome our new Kaitiaki, Pat Tickelpenny, to our team. Pat has had many years of experience working with maintenance and is very excited to be working at Allandale School.
Winter Sports
Well done to all the tamariki who are playing winter sports. Thank you to all our coaches, managers and whānau who are supporting our tamariki in participating in winter sports.
We currently have 49 tamariki playing soccer, 36 tamariki playing hockey and 55 tamariki playing netball. Hockey starts this Saturday and we know these children are excited to get the season started.
Thank you, Adrianne McAllister
School Fun Run Fundraiser
The 1st of June is our Cross Country / Fun Run. A letter and sponsorship forms are coming home this week. Participating in the sponsorship drive is optional . The funds raised from this will go towards Education Outside the Classroom for our tamariki - an important part of their education.
Great News
We are so pleased to share with you that the Government has agreed to continue funding the Ka Ora, Ka Ako | Healthy School Lunches programme until the end of 2023.
This is fantastic news for our students and whānau. Ka Pai Kai are doing an amazing job with our school lunches. For the next three weeks our menu includes delicious meals such as mashed potatoes with meatballs, spaghetti bolognese and loaded potatoes. Yummy hot lunches as the weather cools down.
Small Reminders
Please ensure all uniform - especially school jerseys - are named so we can return them to their owners.
We have a lot of children bringing scooters, bikes, skates and skateboards to school so they can use our skatepark and bike tracks but they must be wearing a helmet. If they have wheels under their feet, they need a helmet on their head.
Please return registration forms for Gymnastics and payment can be made to the school office.
Learning in Class
Last term our senior students explored identity by unpacking the purakau (legend), Pūtauaki. They even had the opportunity to hold electives where they could explore the purakau of Pūtauaki through Arts, Drama, Cooking, Digital Technologies and Science
