Thank you for your support re: Alllandale School at RED. Wearing a mask inside is something we’re all getting used too but we seem to becoming more acceptable / comfortable with it so ngā mihi. Huge thank you also to TPOOM, the Pugh Whānau and the Ministry of Education for the masks and other useful resources they shared with us . Ka mau te wehi!

Thank you to our Junior Reo-Rua whānau for our engagement hui this week. It was great to see everyone and gain a better understanding of what you would like for your tamariki. We aim to deliver, the potential to be pioneer’s is something new for us and we are up for the challenge. Exciting times.
Special mention to Whaea Te Rumate whose mother Puti Koopu passed away. Sending aroha to you and your whānau during this time. Thank you also to our school team for your hard mahi, holding it down at school and allowing us to be present for both Whaea Te Rumate and our school.
In closing, one of our goals for 2022 is to ensure school communications are great; easy to understand, accurate and timely so expect to see some improvements and new initiatives in this area as we settle into school.
There’s a lot happening at Allandale School but for now have a great weekend whānau.

School Housekeeping
All students from Year 4 up are required to wear masks while indoors. We are providing tamariki with masks but they are welcome to bring their own
Please ensure your child has a drink bottle for school as our water fountains are closed
Swimming has started at school. It’s a great idea for tamariki to bring their togs everyday and we are asking that togs are not borrowed by other children.
Please name all school uniform and shoes. It is much easier to return clothing when it is named.
Navy blue sun hats are part of our school uniform for Terms 1 and 4.
We are part of the Free Lunches in School programme. If your child is new to Allandale and has any allergies or dietary requirements, please let the office know so we can ensure that everyone is catered for. So far we have had nachos, wraps, meatballs and bangers and mash. We are also part of the Fruit in Schools programme which starts next week. All your tamariki needs to bring to school is some brain food which they eat just before playtime, about 10.30am.
Go By Bike Day
February is Bike Month in Whakatane and next Wednesday 16th of February is Go by Bike Day for our school. There will be prizes for tamariki who ride their bikes to school on this day.
Rippa Rugby
EBOP Rugby is running an after school competition this term, starting Monday 7th of March. Permission slips have been sent home and can be returned with payment to our office. The number of teams we can have depends on the amount of support we get from whānau so if you can help coach or manage a team please let us know.
New Staff at our Kura
This week we introduce two of our new kaiakos:
Kia Ora Whanau
My name is Katrina Black and I'm returning to Allandale as a Deputy Principal after a year away.
I was born and raised here in Whakatane and love teaching and working in this community. This year I look forward to reconnecting with everyone here at Allandale.
Nga mihi - Katrina
" Ka rere te tui tae noa ki te whakata, ha hoki ano ki te kainga" - "A tui will fly so far until it rests, and will then return home"
I te mihi tuatahi ki te atua nananei na mea katoa, i te mihi tuarua ki a koutou katoa te whanau o Te Kura o Motueka.
Nga mihi whanau my name is Daniele Cuthbert-Davies.
As a past student of Allandale Primary School I am really thrilled to be returning here as a teaching deputy principal. For me it means that I get to create, nurture & foster the values of a kura that I loved as a child. I am excited to be working with whanau, tamariki, and our hapu to produce life long learners who can be proud to be from Allandale Primary School, just like me.
