School Newsletter Week 4, Term 4
Kia ora e te whānau,
Hope everyone is well.
Busy busy at school this week. We’ve had the Bluelight Team in running Bike Ready, Rippa and Touch training / games, teacher appraisals and have been working in the literacy, learning support, ICT, property and Te Puna Taiao spaces in regards to planning for 2022.
COVID-19: As of 11.59pm on Monday 25 October the COVID-19 Public Health Response Order for Mandatory Vaccinations for Education came into effect. This means that everyone who works for a school or kura who may have contact with students or will be present at a time when students are also present must have had a first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by 15 November and be fully vaccinated by 1 January 2022. We have been told that from 1 January 2022, schools and kura must only allow those that are fully vaccinated to provide onsite services.
The vaccination requirements apply at school and also at school camps and trips, or where other education outside the classroom (EOTC) programmes take place. This means that both school staff and volunteers who are involved in EOTC should have had a first vaccination by 15 November and be fully vaccinated by 1 January 2022.
Our aim is to work with whānau to provide a safe environment for our students under this new Public Health Order and we will keep everyone updated as new information is received.
Concerns and Complaints Policy: It is important that the concerns of students, staff, parents/whānau, and members of the Allandale School / Te Kura o Motueka (The School) community are recognised and resolved in a fair and consistent manner.
The relationship between members of the school community is strengthened when concerns and complaints are given serious, consistent and equitable consideration. Allandale School (its policies, practices, students, personnel and Board) should be open to the possibility of positive change. Attending to concerns and complaints in the appropriate manner provides this opportunity.
The purpose of the Concerns and Complaints policy is to make a genuine effort to ensure that all complaints are investigated fairly and in line with good practice and all relevant legislation at the earliest opportunity, and in a manner that respects all parties concerned and provides for positive change where identified as beneficial.

Fun Fridays
Every second Friday will be Fun Friday at Allandale. We will be having free themed mufti days. This is for students and teachers to dress up and have some fun. Please don’t feel the need to buy anything new for these mufti days. Use what you have at home and let's see your creative side. We will share photos on Facebook and keep you posted on the different themes. Our next Fun Friday is Friday 19th of November and the theme is “Crazy Hat”.
Parents and Whanau on Site
We are still asking parents and whānau to only come onsite to our school if necessary and to come via our office to sign in. Please ensure that facemasks are worn and social distancing is also required. Thank you for your support whānau.
Senior School Athletics
Because of Level 2 Restrictions and the Public Health Order we have had to make changes to our Athletics competition this year. We are having this on Tuesday 23rd November at our kura instead of going to Rex Morpeth park. Unfortunately we cannot have whānau come onsite to watch. We understand that this is frustrating as we normally encourage whānau to join us for these events.
Class Placements 2022
It is that time of year again, where we begin organising classes for next year. This is always a challenging task and we strive to balance learning needs, student numbers, friendships etc. Our whānau are valued members of our school and we know that you know your children best. If you would like to make a request about the placement of your child for next year, please complete the slip in this newsletter and return it to the school office by Friday 19th November.
Please note that the Bilingual Unit request forms have already been sent out and were due back Friday 12 November.
