School Newsletter Week 3,Term 4
Kia ora e te whānau,
Hope everyone is well.
COVID-19 Public Health Response Order: As of 11.59pm on Monday 25 October the COVID-19 Public Health Response Order for Mandatory Vaccinations for Education came into effect. This means that everyone who works for a school or kura who may have contact with students or will be present at a time when students are also present must have had a first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by 15 November and be fully vaccinated by 1 January 2022. We have been told that from 1 January 2022, schools and kura must only allow those that are fully vaccinated to provide onsite services.
The vaccination requirements apply at school and also at school camps and trips, or where other education outside the classroom (EOTC) programmes take place. This means that both school staff and volunteers who are involved in EOTC should have had a first vaccination by 15 November and be fully vaccinated by 1 January 2022.
As a school, we are working on establishing systems to check the vaccination status of our regular visitors and volunteers and will inform you of our systems as they are established. In the meantime, if you coach a team, plan on attending camp or helping with a school trip etc, you will need to get your vaccination record ready to show us when we ask for it. All regular staff are in the process of providing evidence of their vaccination status to the Principal.
Our aim is to work with whānau to provide a safe environment for our students under this new Public Health Order.
Staff for 2022: After a thorough appointment process the following kaiako will be joining the team next year:
- Katrina Black (DP)
- Mariana Gordon (DP)
- Daniele Cuthbert-Davies (DP / Teaching)
- Rangihotuana Monaghan (Reo Rua)
- Sarah Agyemang (Senior Team)
We would also like to congratulate Tumihi McKinney who has won a permanent position in our Reo Rua which will provide some consistency for our Reo Rua whanau and acknowledge the return of Kayley Foster to the middle team who has been on maternity leave this year.
Communication: We are also looking at ways to improve our communications with everyone. Like most schools at present (alongside the delivery of everyday school programs) we are navigating through things like COVID-19 class placements, year levels in each team, Reo Rua, Athletics, sport, school camps, prize-giving, Y6 graduation, field trips / EOTC, reports etc so there will no doubt be information from across the school coming home, which will require understanding / a response from whānau.
We aim to make things easier, appreciate your help in this area and have the same expectations of ourselves here at school.
Heaps happening – Shine Bright like a Diamond apōpō.
Enjoy the rest of your week whānau.
Ngā mihi
Matua Rikki

Fun Fridays
Starting this Friday, every second Friday will be Fun Friday at Allandale. We will be having free themed mufti days. This is for students and teachers to dress up and have some fun. Please don’t feel the need to buy anything new for these mufti days. Use what you have at home and let's see your creative side. We will share photos on Facebook and keep you posted on the different themes.
School Hats
Next Monday, the three classes (junior, middle, and senior) with the most hats will win a prize. Hats are compulsory in terms 1 and 4. School hats must be plain navy blue and named. Good luck for Monday!
Class Placements 2022
Included with this newsletter is a form to be filled out if you would like your child to be a part of our Bilingual Unit in 2022.
If your tamariki are already in our bilingual classes they will remain in bilingual education for 2022, unless we hear otherwise. We will be sending home information about all other classroom placements next week.
Claire House has taken beautiful photos of our tamariki, in and out of the classroom. You will have seen some on our Facebook page and we will continue to share these every week in our newsletter and Facebook.
