School Newsletter Week 5, Term 1
Kia ora e te whānau,
Sending aroha everyone’s way at this time.
As we’re all well aware COVID-19 is here in our community. Whānau well-being is most important so please continue to look after yourselves and one another as we all navigate the COVID / Phase 3 space. Reminder: If you’re keeping your tamariki at home you can request a hardcopy learning pack by contacting your child’s teacher via SeeSaw/Class FB Page or by calling the front office on 07-308 7645.
This week we shared with whānau that we had our first positive case of Covid-19 and since then we’ve had a handful more (and have let whānau from these classrooms know). If your child is a close contact of a positive case not in their house they can continue to attend school – refer to Phase 3 Covid Case Management.
Again, as cases in our community increase, they will appear in our school. We have a caring team and good systems in place to respond to this and to keep any spread of the virus – should it appear – to a minimum. Please continue to keep a really close watch of your whānau for anyone with symptoms and get tested if you need to.
For those tamariki at school - masks/hats/water bottles and togs please :-)
We will keep you updated as we are whānau. Thank you for your aroha and support. Please stay safe and be kind.

Matua Rikki
New Staff at our Kura
Meet Raniera - aka “Guns”.
Guns is a teacher aide at our kura, working closely with one of our tamariki. He is passionate about sport and is about to embark on training to be a teacher. Guns is a welcome addition to our team of dynamic teacher aides.
The date for school photos has been changed to Term 3 - Tuesday 9th of August. We will send reminders closer to the date. In the meantime if you have envelopes at home you can still return them with your photo order.
School Housekeeping
We are still providing face masks to children but they are welcome to bring their own from home.
Drink bottles - please ensure that your child has their drink bottle with water every day as our fountains are still closed in Phase 3.
With the temperature being a little bit cooler in the mornings, please name all uniform as we are coming across a lot of unnamed jerseys.
Hats are part of our school uniform for Terms 1 and 4.
The school pool is open again so it's a good idea to bring togs every day. Our pool is heated using solar power
Helmets need to be worn when riding a scooter or bike to school. If tamariki don’t have their helmet with them after school, they will not be able to ride their bike/scooter home.
Thumbs Up
Ngā mihi to the Dollar King and Q Store who both donated hand sanitiser to our kura. This is awesome as we will be able to use this in all the classrooms, ensuring our tamariki are taking all the right steps to stay safe.
Roller Skating
This has proven to be a huge hit here at Allandale. Every Wednesday from 3 to 4pm at our skate park. Tamariki can bring their own skates and helmets or Ivy has spare gear for them to use.
Rippa Rugby
Please note that we have a bye for next week’s Rippa Rugby games. We will let you know what is happening the following week.
Absences
Please ring us on 308 7645 or 021 02501768 to let us know if your child is going to be away. If we don’t hear from you, then it is recorded as T for truant. You can also email learnalot@allandale.school.nz
