This week Shade and Sails installed our blue sails over our senior decks. We intend to plant some beautiful big trees and the garden beds beside the decks. Alongside the planting, we are looking to develop some amazing murals that share our local stories.
MOUNT PUTAUAKI
Across our school this term, all our classrooms have been exploring Putauaki. We have been learning the special characteristics of Putauaki and what it means to Ngati Awa. Students all over the school have been sharing their new knowledge. In Pohutukawa they have been completing art pieces. Jacob Hunter-Keno and Whaea Shelley are working together to create this beautiful portrait of Putauaki.
Students from the middle team have also been creating art pieces of Putauaki and also using lego to share the story of the Battle of the Mountains.
Sports Report
Netball
Congratulations to all the netballers on a very successful start to the season. Year 1-2’s play on Mondays at 4pm, Year 3-4’s play on Tuesday at 4pm, and Year 5-6’s play on Saturday mornings at varied times.
Year 1-2 team are doing so well following the rules of netball, Year 3-4 teams are showing up ready to play - great self managing, and our Year 5-6 teams have shown a very enthusiastic attitude towards netball. What great Allandale Kind of Kids you all are!
In the weekend Ngawaiatarangi got all her shots in, as a result her team won their game. Wai-O-Te-Hau was eager for the ball, she got the ball and looked after it, along with getting her shots in. Well done girls, we are lucky to have such talented netballers here at Allandale School.

Your hard work and training paid off with a really successful evening at Gate Pa, Tauranga and then took out 2nd place at Awakeri Top School. Ka Rawe.
Swimming Sports
Interschool Swimming Sports were held at the Whakatane Aquatic Centre last Wednesday. We had 18 children represent Allandale School, swimming in a variety of events such as freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke. We had a fantastic, fun filled day and everyone demonstrated Allandale Kind of Kid Values.
Congratulations to Phoebe Jones, Kaziah O’Brien-Lawson, Dion Taipeti, Felix Anderson-Smith, Cole Charteris and Te Awamawhai Thrupp who qualified for EBOP swimming this Thursday.
