School Newsletter: Week 2, Term 2 2021
Tēnā koutou ngā whānau o Te Kura o Motueka/Allandale School.
Term 2 has started well as our tamariki settle back into school, re-engage with their learning and reconnect with their friends. We are looking forward to everything we have planned for the term. Trips to Mataatua Marae, Matariki Celebrations and our School Fun Run. The Whakatane Schools Community of Learning has two Teacher Only Days this term - Friday June 4 and Friday July 2nd.
Winter is coming, so please ensure that your child has appropriate clothing to keep them warm and dry. With the junior children participating in Learning Through Play it is always a good idea to have a spare set of uniform in their bag. We are fast running out of spare clothes to lend children so we would appreciate anything that your child has borrowed, being returned to the office.
At Allandale School our doors are always open to whanau and the community. While we have wonderful technology such as our new website, Facebook and SeeSaw, we do enjoy meeting and seeing whanau who may have any questions or concerns.
ARE YOUR CONTACT DETAILS CORRECT?
If you have moved, changed your phone number, email address or caregiver details, please send a note to the school office or phone us on 07 308 7645. It is vital we have up to date details in the case of an emergency.
Netball News
Last term we sold ice blocks and had a mufti day to fundraise for new netball uniforms. Thank you to everyone who supported this kaupapa. The girls love their new dresses in the Allandale colours.
Congratulations must also go to Nicole O’Neil who was selected to play for the Whakatane Year 6 Rep team.
Gymnastics
The date for the competition has changed, it is now Friday 25th of June.
Juniors will be training on Fridays at 12-12.30.
Middle and Seniors will be training on Wednesdays at lunchtime.
Here at school Renee will teach your child the routine that they will be performing at the competition. The hall will be open on Mondays and Thursdays at lunchtime to practice what they have learnt. Please remember to pay the fee of $5.50 at the office.
School Fun Run Fundraiser
The 1st of June is our Cross Country / Fun Run. A letter and sponsorship form have been sent home and we do have spare sponsorship forms in the office if you have lost yours. Participating in the sponsorship drive is optional . The funds raised from this will go towards Education Outside the Classroom for our tamariki - an important part of their education. If you have any money to pay, please bring it to our school office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Every Day Matters
Children need every opportunity to learn and participate in school. Attending school is key to setting our young people up for life. If a child stops attending school regularly, it becomes harder for them to stay connected to school, friends and teachers.
It is important to contact Allandale if your tamariki is absent. If they are away for three consecutive days due to illness, a medical certificate is required.
