School Newsletter Week 10, Term 2
Kia ora e te whānau,
It’s been great for tamariki to be able to move around the school more freely this week. You can see, hear and feel the joy throughout the school and we are happy we have got to this point safely.
Just a reminder in response to COVID the following applies here at Allandale School:
- removal of any outdoor capacity limits at all colours of the framework
- increased capacity limits when indoors at Red, moving from 100 to 200 (but still allowing for one-metre spacing) and no capacity limits indoors at Orange and Green
- no requirement to display QR codes at any setting (but we’ll be ready to use them again in the future)
- no need to have alternate check-in systems for COVID-19 beyond our usual visitor register processes
- no mask requirements when outdoors (but masks remain a requirement indoors for staff and children/students in Years 4-6 whenever we are at Red), additionally, masks are strongly encouraged to be worn at Orange.
Papa Pat continues to test the air in our indoor learning spaces. Testing results remain the same ie. the air is safe in all areas and Papa Pat also makes sure our windows and doors are open to allow for air flow and supports teachers with this in the morning and throughout the day. Teachers are also being encouraged to work outside when and where applicable.
Overall we’re happy with our response to COVID / safety. Mask wearing where applicable and our school processes re: ventilation re-affirm this for us as a school. Ngā mihi for your ongoing aroha whānau.
We have a couple of new building projects planned which we’re all really excited about:
1. Another New Senior Toilet Block
2. New Shade Sails (at the back of Rooms 9 & 10 and in front of Rooms 11 and 13).
The Breakfast Club, Fruit in Schools and School Lunch programmes are still running and tamariki are still reminded to bring water bottles to school.
We’re currently in discussions with Ka Pai Kai about the details of when lunches are collected to further look at ways we can provide support for whānau with kai at home. At this stage, this means that there is a window between the times of 12.15pm and 1.30pm each day where we can do so (Term 2).
Given the environment this term we are very excited about what we have planned for Term 2 and the remainder of the year. We are focused on STUDENT LEARNING, ENGAGEMENT & BEHAVIOUR, IDENTITY, RELATIONSHIPS, EQUITY and KAITIAKITANGA and will be putting together our implementation plans next Thursday the 14th of April (T.O.D) - School is closed for students on this day.
Lot’s to look forward to whānau, but for now enjoy the weekend.

Hockey Registrations
We are taking registrations for hockey if your child is interested in playing this season. You can collect a registration form from our office or on our facebook page.
Sports Uniforms
We are missing some of our sports uniforms from last year. We would love to have any found sports uniforms back to the school asap.
This includes junior soccer tops and netball dresses.
Rewards Day
Next Tuesday we have a Rewards Day for our tamariki. Each team will be celebrating the mahi and resilience the children have shown during this unusual term.
A big thank you to the Otumoetai Tennis Club. They have donated a large box of tennis balls to our kura. These will be put to great use on the playground.
If you have a child achieving amazing things out of school, please let us know. We’d love to share their success in our newsletter.
