School Newsletter: Week 3, Term 2 2021
Tēnā koutou ngā whānau o Te Kura o Motueka/Allandale School.
Week 3 of Term 2 already and the school is abuzz with all the exciting things happening. Today our tamariki bused to Mataatua Marae - The House That Came Home. The carvings and legends of Ngati Awa are brought to life in the incredible light show and no doubt your children will be sharing some of these stories with you at home.
We have over 50 children getting ready to compete in Gymnastics in June. It’s great to see so many tamariki - boys and girls and across all age groups having a go at something new. Gymnastics is great for coordination, flexibility, self-esteem and confidence.
Tamariki from our Middle Team making an aircraft out of straws during Maker Space.
School Uniforms
Please ensure your child’s school uniform is named. This helps us to return it to the right person. As the weather gets cooler children can wear a yellow, blue or black long sleeve top under their school tee shirt as an extra layer.
School Fun Run Fundraiser
The 1st of June is our Cross Country / Fun Run. Participating in the sponsorship drive is optional. The funds raised from this will go towards Education Outside the Classroom for our tamariki - an important part of their education. If you have any money to pay, please bring it to our school office and we can receipt it for you.
Kahikatea 4 have been learning about science and technology this term. At home, Aiden decided he would make a Hydraulic Powered Robotic Arm - he has designed it to include a gripping mechanism which can pick up objects, a rotating platform and has used water as his hydraulic fluid.
Mahi pai Aiden!
Winter Sports
Ka rawe!! We are so proud of all our Allandale kind of kids, proudly representing our kura at Saturday sports. We have tamariki playing football, hockey and netball.
A big nga mihi to our whānau too, coaching and supporting our tamariki from the sidelines. None of this would be possible without you.
Last Thursday we had over 20 girls attend the Future Ferns Rugby 7s day. They were among 160 girls from various schools in Whakatane who all had a fantastic day full of drills and fun games.
