School Newsletter Week 2, Term 4
Kia ora e te whānau,
Hope everyone is well.
Thank you for your ongoing aroha and support of Allandale School at Alert Level 2 whānau. Again, there has been a considerable improvement at drop off and pick up time so thank you for doing your part in keeping tamariki safe and we encourage everyone to keep it up.
Reminder: When visiting the school site (drop off, pick up, absolutely essential visits during school operating hours) the wearing of masks, hand sanitising, maintaining a 2m distance from others and signing in at the school office is required every time.
On the 25th of October, the COVID-19 Vaccination Order came into effect.
This Vaccination Order makes COVID-19 vaccinations mandatory for anyone working onsite at a school who may come into contact with students.
It applies to:
- all school staff (teachers, support and other onsite staff)
- contractors
- volunteers
- anyone else engaged to provide onsite services
All education staff who may have contact with children must have had their first jab by November 15 and be fully vaccinated by January 1, 2022.
At this stage we are planning to move forward with Senior Camp and the BOT will be discussing this further on Monday. Whaea Ashton and the Senior Team have been working extremely hard to put this camp together for the tamariki and we are looking at upcoming events like Senior Camp, Whānau Hui, Prize giving, Sports Events etc as thoughtfully as we possibly can in relation to COVID-19 rules and tamariki safety. Please appreciate that this will require some flexibility, patience and understanding from us all.
There has been a lot on this week with the Year 6 tamariki transition visit to Whakatāne Intermediate, Touch, Athletics practice and much much more.
The MOE also have a digital equity programme that puts internet into homes for any kids who don't have the internet and I will share information with regards to: this opportunity in the newsletter next week.
Enjoy your weekend everybody.
Matua Rikki
Intermediate Enrolments
Year 6’s need to return the Whakatane Intermediate Enrolment forms to the school office urgently please whanau.
Each student also needs to attend an enrolment interview. Bookings can be made online at www.schoolinterviews.co.nz. The school event code is g4k9f. Otherwise contact their school office on 308 6480 to make an appointment.
Due to Covid Restrictions, we cannot hold whole school assemblies in our school hall, but we do have a ‘zoombely’ on Friday afternoons, where we celebrate our Allandale Kind of Kids. These tamariki were our Allandale Kind Kids at the end of last week.
Touch Rugby
Finally Touch Rugby was able to start on Wednesday at Rex Morpeth Park. Due to Covid, Touch Whakatane have asked the whanau observe a few rules:
- NO STUDENTS are allowed to be watching other games
- Park as close as possible to your child's games
- Your child is to go to their field when it is time to play and leave straight after their game has finished
- No parents are allowed to be watching games from the side of the field. Please wait by your vehicle for your child's game to finish
- Students to follow the green arrows to their field
- One out, one in toilet policy
Our tamariki had an awesome time playing on Wednesday and it was so good to see them running around and representing Allandale doing something they love
