School Newsletter: Week 6, Term 3 2021
Kia ora e te whānau,
Hope everyone is well.
COVID presents new challenges for us all so sending aroha everyone’s way at this time. Tamariki, parents / caregivers, staff, the BOT and community, everyone has been doing their part to keep us all safe, so ngā mihi whānau.
Today is our 17th day in lockdown and a lot has happened during this time. School looks different but we’re still moving forward and at the moment school looks like around 8% of tamariki and staff at school (Alert Level 3) and about 92% of tamariki and whānau at home.
Staff have been working closely to keep things moving along ie. sharing online learning / activities, providing hardcopy packs and at present a small team are onsite teaching our in-school bubbles. The team are delivering hardcopy packs and will continue to actively share regular online / learning activities with tamariki and whānau at home. Note: If you would like a hardcopy pack delivered please contact your childs’ teacher directly via team FB pages, SeeSaw or email. Communication is key whānau.
I would also like to acknowledge the mahi and support that our BOT has been providing in keeping everyone safe. Balancing school governance along with home and work isn’t easy so we very much appreciate what you do.
Property developments on our school roof are safely underway and we are excited about the upcoming improvements to classrooms when things settle down.
Loads going on for the school and whānau at this time but the office team just reminded me there is only limited space in the newsletter :-) so for now well-being is most important and if there is anything we can do to help please let us know.

From the Board of Trustees
It is with sadness that we share the news that Mrs Adrianne McAllister has resigned from her position as Deputy Principal at Allandale. Mrs McAllister has worked across the school in a variety of roles during her long tenure here and we wish her all the very best for her future.
We wish to take this opportunity to acknowledge Mrs McAllister's unwavering dedication to Allandale. She has injected her love for our tamariki into every part of her various roles and lifted many aspects of the school’s performance. We really appreciate the hard work she has put into the school over many years and know she will be missed.
E te mareikura, ka nui ngā mihi ki a koe mo to kaitiakitanga, tautoko, manaakitanga ki te kura. Tēnā koe.
New Staff
This term we have been fortunate enough to employ four new teacher aides. They are working around the school in different classrooms as well as lending their many talents to the sports field.
We look forward to coming back to school, working more with our new staff, and re-connecting with all staff, tamariki and whānau
Emergency Dental Care for Tamariki
Next Monday and Tuesday the Whakatane Intermediate Dental Clinic is open for emergency treatment for tamariki. Please phone them for a consultation on 307 1548 first and they will make an appointment if needed.
Ka Pai Kai
A huge mihi must go to Ka Pai Kai who have fed our tamariki at school in Level 3 Bubbles. Preparing and delivering food while observing Level 3 protocols isn’t easy and we appreciate the hard work and aroha they put into their food.
Lockdown 2021
Through our facebook pages it has been awesome to see the different ways whānau have been keeping themselves busy during Levels 4 and 3. We have found the team facebook pages are a great way to stay connected and check in with each other. Keep sharing whānau, we love to see what everyone is up to.
