School Newsletter: Week 7, Term 2 2021
Tēnā koutou ngā whānau o Te Kura o Motueka/Allandale School.
The term is flying by with it nearly being the end of Week 7! Our tamariki have been busy with various winter sports, maker space and learning through play. The seniors are involved with electives two times a week. They had 5 options to choose from including painting a mural, native tree planting, waiata, tiny houses and ICT.
Last week students in the Native Planting elective visited White Pine Bush. They studied which plants grow naturally in our area to help decide which plants we will choose to plant in our kura. Thank you to those whānau helpers who came along - you were all wonderful! It was great to see our tamariki in a different environment, searching and wondering.
Iceblock sticks, shoes boxes and paint are being used to create Tiny Maraes as part of the senior electives.
Karearea Room 6’s had a new classmate for a few hours.. This butterfly hatched earlier in the week from a twig attached to the whiteboard and spent the afternoon in class drying its wings. The tamariki were very protective and caring of the butterfly.
Thank you
To Kirsty O’Neill - one of our mothers - who recently treated the Allandale Staff to a lovely morning tea. It was a lovely surprise on a cold wet Monday.
School Dental Clinic
The Mobile Dental Clinic has now left Allandale and will be back here towards the end of the year. If you would like your child to see a dentist, there is a permanent dental clinic at Whakatane Intermediate. You need to phone 07 307 1548 to make an appointment.
New Enrolments
We have had a number of new enrolments this term and it’s lovely to see new faces across the whole school. If you have a younger tamariki who will be looking at starting at Allandale in the near future we would love to hear from you. This helps us to plan our classroom numbers and staffing for the rest of the year.
Lost Property
We still have a lot of unnamed lost property here at school. As you walk into the new entrants area, there are 3 blue bins filled with shoes, jerseys, and various other items. Please take a look to see if anything belongs to your whanau. Naming uniform, shoes, lunchboxes etc helps ensure that they are returned to their owner.
